Each year the 5th grade students have the opportunity to work together and perform a short musical. Students are able to participate on the stage or behind the scenes as stage crew or stage managers. Students on the stage will learn songs and choreography and have the opportunity to audition for larger roles that may include solo opportunities. This is a great chance for students to collaborate as a team in a creative endeavor!

The Chess Club is open to fourth and fifth grade students who are interested in learning how to play chess or improving their existing skills. Students will explore strategies, practice critical thinking, and participate in friendly matches with their peers. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced player, Chess Club offers a fun and supportive environment to build problem-solving skills, patience, and sportsmanship.

Westhampton Beach Elementary School offers an after-school club called the W.A.V.E.S. Environmental Club for 3rd and 4th grade students for the 2025-2026 school year. Meetings will be held on Tuesday afternoons from 3: 15-4:00pm. There is a fall and spring session and the grade levels can vary depending on enrollment.
Our goal as a club is to continue to foster and encourage the awareness, activism, and appreciation for our environment. Each meeting, we will explore a new theme related to the Earth and our environment and we will learn and discover ways in which we can actively engage our fellow students and school community. If your child is interested in joining this year, please complete the permission slip below. Your child will need to return the signed permission slip no later than Wednesday, November 5th.
A meeting schedule will be forthcoming, based on student interest. Meetings will be held in my classroom, Room 205. If your child needs the late bus to get home from W.A.V.E.S., please indicate this on the permission slip below. Please complete the information below if your child will be a pick-up car rider or will be going to SCOPE after the meeting. I look forward to working with your child this year. The Glee Club is a choral group of 4th and 5th grade students. Glee Club rehearsals take place on Mondays from 3:10 until 4:00 in the cafeteria. The Glee Club performs at the Winter and Spring Concerts.

The Intermediate Homework Club is a support program for students in grades 3–5. Recommended by teachers, the club provides a quiet and structured environment where students can complete homework assignments with guidance from certified teachers. Sessions are held on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:15–4:15 p.m., offering both academic support and an opportunity to build strong study habits.

The Literacy Club is designed for third grade students who enjoy reading and listening to chapter books. Students will engage in shared reading experiences, discuss characters and story events, and participate in fun literacy-based activities. This club encourages a love of reading while building comprehension, vocabulary, and a sense of community among readers.

During these morning sessions, students will utilize IXL, a digital learning platform that provides specific skill plans and helps students master targeted areas of Math and ELA. This program, which is part of our ongoing commitment to providing the best possible outcomes for all students.

Drop off Location: Oneck Lane (K-2 Drop off / Pick Up Area) Transportation: Please note that transportation will not be provided. Families must arrange their child’s transportation to the program.
Daily attendance is not required, but it is recommended that students participate as often as possible. Consistent attendance will allow for the highest level of support and progress. -

Ozobots are small, programmable robots that combine fun with learning. They can follow lines, detect colors, and execute coded commands through patterns drawn on paper or programmed digitally using block-based coding. This versatility allows students to explore robotics in both an offline and digital environment, catering to a variety of learning styles.
How Ozobots Support Learning and Teamwork
- Developing 21st-Century Skills: Through coding activities, students will enhance problem-solving, logical reasoning, and computational thinking — skills essential for future academic and career success.
- Fostering Creativity: Students will design and create their own paths, mazes, or challenges for their Ozobots, encouraging imaginative thinking.
- Building Collaboration and Teamwork: Activities will emphasize group projects where students work together to program the Ozobots, troubleshoot challenges, and achieve shared goals.

Here at Westhampton Beach we have two bands, The Beginner Band and Advanced Band. Our Beginner band gives students an opportunity to learn a new instrument and play together as an ensemble. The beginner band rehearses before school on Thursday mornings and performs in the spring concert. The advanced band meets twice a week before school on Wednesdays and Fridays. This group performs in the winter and spring concerts as well as Flag Day and our moving-up ceremony.

RISE Enrichment End Date: Week of 5/25/26As part of our commitment to student success, we are excited to announce the continuation of our afterschool program, RISE (Responsive Instruction for Student Empowerment). RISE offers enrichment sessions designed to empower students and extend their learning experiences beyond the classroom.
Our dedicated instructional staff teaches RISE sessions, which provide students with valuable opportunities to build confidence, develop new skills, and explore areas of interest. The program aims to support students in reaching their full potential by offering engaging and enriching activities tailored to each student.
Students are selected to participate in RISE through teacher recommendation, with consideration given to factors such as academic readiness and the ability to work collaboratively. RISE offers a unique opportunity for students to receive additional support and enrichment in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Participation is optional, but if you choose to participate, we ask for a commitment to attend all sessions. Please mark whether or not you would like your child to participate in this program and return the completed form to your classroom teacher. Transportation will be provided based on the after-school bus schedule. Consistent attendance is essential to maximizing the program's benefits and ensuring students can fully engage in the learning opportunities.

RISE Support End Date: Week of 5/25/26Staff recommendations were used to select the first group of students on each grade level to participate. Students who were near or on grade level but would benefit from a boost to their skills and confidence were selected.
The R.I.S.E. Academy will target ELA and Math with a unique focus each week. Our classroom instructional staff will plan and implement lessons to support your child over these 12 weeks. The student groups will be structured to maximize effectiveness. These will be targeted learning groups that are responsive and tailored to the specific students.
Participation is completely optional, and while we realize there are a number of other after-school activities and commitments that may coincide with these dates, we are asking for a commitment to attend every session. If you would like your child to participate, please complete and return this form to your classroom teacher. Transportation will be provided based on the after- school bus schedule. We are excited about the continued growth of this program. -

The Safety Patrol Club is made up of responsible fifth grade student leaders who help ensure a safe and organized arrival and dismissal each day. Safety Patrol members support students in grades K–5 by holding up bus signs to indicate arrivals, standing in strategic hallway locations to monitor traffic, and promoting safe and responsible walking throughout the building. Students also help facilitate established arrival and dismissal procedures, serving as positive role models for younger peers. Through this leadership opportunity, Safety Patrol members build responsibility, teamwork, and school pride while contributing to a safe and supportive school environment.
